The Development Commission has partnered with the Clarkson University Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for guidance regarding their ongoing development of master plans for both Peacock and Power Pond Park and the possible inclusion of Public Art into the Main Street Streetscape.
The Development Commission submitted an RFP for the project in January, 2020. At that point student teams from Clarkson University, under the direction of Professor Erik Backus, were selected to provide the services requested.
The Development Commission also helped to facilitate partnerships between the University and the Rotary Club of Lake Placid and the Adirondack North Country Sports Commission. The Rotary was looking for help in designing Bus Shelters as part of a service project and the Sports Commission was concerned with the design and location of venues for a proposed University Games Sand Volleyball Championship.
Members of the Development Commission and Appearance Committees served as steering committees to with the students as they created their final presentations. Those presentations include design recommendations, construction plans and cost estimates for each proposal. The proposals will be completed by April 18, 2020 for final review by the Development Commission. At that point a schedule for public presentations in Lake Placid will be established.
